Traditionally, Mole Sauce is a delicious blend of savory and sweet ingredients that pairs perfectly with poultry as well as makes a delicious enchilada sauce and is a delicious twist for a soup or stew. It also would have simmered for DAYS on the kitchen stove in the old days but our Mole Sauce Seasoning is a perfect blend of spices that gets your homemade Mole Sauce started and becomes a multipurpose kind of sauce you will fall in love with.
To make our Mole Sauce:
Simply mix 3/4 cup of our Mole Sauce Seasoning, 2 tbls cocoa powder, 1- 8 oz can of tomato sauce, & 2 cups water. Bring to a quick boil while stirring, reduce heat & simmer for 15 minutes. Then get creative!!
We love this Crockpot Mole Chicken recipe:
4 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs (about 12)
1 prepared batch of our Mole Sauce Seasoning (see above notes or package label for ingredients and instructions)
Cilantro and White Sesame seeds for finishing touch
Season chicken thighs with salt and place in a 5-to-6-quart slow cooker
Add prepared Mole mixture to slow cooker, cover, and cook on high until chicken is tender, 4 hours (or 8 hours on low).
Serve chicken and sauce topped with cilantro over rice or use meat and sauce for enchiladas or tacos.
