Pumpkin Spice may be the fall food trend, but the perfect fall flavor tradition is all about the Apple Pie Spice! There’s a reason this classic baking spice blend has been loved and used in kitchens for hundreds of years!
Traditionally a blend of cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg, this flavor combination tends to bring out the best in fall fruits, warm baking recipes, and even pairs well in dairy based treats like nogs & cheese boards.
Our Olde Town Spice Shoppe Apple Pie Spice is based upon the traditional blend with a tiny added flavor boost of sugar which makes it a perfect finishing spice for dishes. But you can also blend your own Apple Pie Spice using some of our single source spices and depending on your flavor favorites you can increase spices you love more or even add in other favorites such as a pinch of cloves or cardamon or ginger.Homemade Apple Pie Spice
4 tbls ground Cinnamon (we recommend Ceylon Cinnamon)
1 1/2 tsp ground Nutmeg (we recommend fresh grating your own Nutmeg from whole)
1/2 tsp ground Allspice
….. blend well and store in air tight container. Increase equal proportions for larger batches. All the month of October, when you come in and shop in store or shop on line, if you mention this email you’ll get a FREE sample of Apple Pie Spice |

Apple cider punch is always a favorite, warm or iced. And using our Mulling Spice blend with apple cider or apple juice is a refreshing way to usher in the change in weather.
What’s the difference? Apple Cider or Apple Juice?
Apple cider is made from apples that are washed, cut and ground into an “apple mash” similar to applesauce. The mash is then wrapped in cloth and pressed into fresh juice.
Apple juice undergoes filtration to remove pulp and is then pasteurized to extend the shelf life.
Our Mulling Spice blend is a special mix of aromatic and tasty spices and perfect to simmer in apple cider, apple juice, or even a red wine.
You can serve it warm with a cinnamon stick or chilled with ice and diced apple chunks like in the photo.
This recipe is a family favorite fall drink but it can also be ‘adult-ified’ by adding a shot of rum . |

This dry rubbed chicken wings will be a monster smash as your Halloween party dish or for an easy delicious dinner for these busy fall nights! Our special seasonal blend Zombie Dust used as a dry rub has the perfect flavors blended with a hint of heat.
Ingredients
4 lbs chicken wings, thawed completely if using a frozen bag
2 Tbsp vegetable or canola oil
1/2 packet of Olde Town Spice Shop Zombie Dust
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 F degrees. Line a large baking sheet with 2 sheets of aluminum foil (or 1 heavy duty sheet). Top that with an oven safe cooling rack and spray it with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, add chicken wings and vegetable oil. Use a rubber spatula to toss gently to coat.
Sprinkle in about half to 2/3 of the dry rub mixture mix well into all of the chicken wings, coating evenly. Feel free to use all the dry rub, but for a coating like in the photos, 1/2-2/3 of the seasoning pack does just fine.
Add chicken wings to prepared baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes. |
